DigiStrich

About

DigiStrich is a camouflage pattern used by the East German armed forces. It was adopted in 2003, following similar multi-scale digital camouflage patterns in NATO countries such as CADPAT and MARPAT. The pattern is based on the older Strichtarn pattern, which continued to see use past 2003 in reserve forces and the Kampfgruppen der Arbeiterklasse.

Variants

DigiStrich comes in four variants: the classic Trocken (arid) variant, matching the original Strichtarn; a winter Schnee (snow) variant; a dark woodland Tropen (tropical) variant; and a rare inverted Städtisch (urban) variant, issued to Stasi troops of the Wachregiment "Feliks E. Dzierzynski".

Usage

The DigiStrich camouflage pattern was adopted alongside a new uniform standard for NVA troops as part of the Infanterist 2000 modernisation program. The new BDU-style combat uniform in DigiStrich is known as Feldanzug, 3-Farb-Strichtarndruck and is designed to be worn with armour plates as standard.
